Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Siem Reap – Arrival

Upon arrival, meets and transfers to hotel for check in (Early check-in is NOT included and subject to hotel’s availability). Siem Reap Orientation visit local main shrine of Preah Ang Chheck/Chhom temple, and visit to Angkor National Museum which we can see the artifacts from the every part of Cambodia in the ancient time. Afternoon drive to southern party of Siem Reap to embark on a short cruise on Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s biggest natural water body. The experience is wonderful as we pass by floating village, friendly children in small boats and fishermen at work and sunset at Phnom Krom

Day2: Siem Reap – Outlying Temples (B,L)

This morning we visit the ancient Khmer civilization site of Hariharalaya which flourished in the late 9th and earlier 10th centuries. These are the earliest temples in the Angkor area and are referred to the Rolous group (Lo Lei, Preah Koh, and Bakhong Temples). Lunch with the local family and then we will continue to drive to the rural outskirt 35km from Angkor area to visit the smallest, but magnificent, Banteay Srei built in the 10th Century and dedicated to Shiva. The temple was the birthplace of Khmer classical style architecture and the bas-relief work is the best example of Khmer classical art remaining. The pink sandstone structure bears a series of striking and beautiful sculptures, lintels, pediments and friezes. Khmers say the temple must have been carved by women for the details are too fine for the hands of a man. On the way back to Siem Reap we will visit the Banteay Samre Temple adorned with impressive reliefs depicting scenes of Vishnu as well as Krishna legends.

Day3: Siem Reap – Angkor Tours (B)

Early morning, visit the picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The magnificent roots of a tree, pushing between the huge stone blocks of the temple in a sort of embrace, evoke feelings that you may remember forever. And continue to visit the intricately carved Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat – one of the world’s most impressive ruins.  The temple still owns fine Apsara carvings in Angkorian era art. At 09am come back to hotel for breakfast and rest in the noon to avoid of the heats of the day until 15:00 continue exploring the mysterious Royal city Angkor Thom. City & Bayon Its 54-tower temple is an awesome sight. At first glance it seems a shapeless mass of stone, but further scrutiny reveals a face, and then another and another until suddenly you are engulfed by the silent, heavy, enigmatic and silent gaze through half-closed eyes, staring out from a primitive and remote time. Further, visit to the surroundings of the complex including the Baphou, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace and Royal Place area and visit one more ruin in Angkor Area of Preah Khan temple, built in 12th century by King Jayavarman VII and it is the same style to Ta Prom Temple.

Day4: Siem Reap – Remote temple & off the beaten track tour (B)

Heading out of the town, we drive on a newly paved road to the most remote and ruin temples of Boeng Mealea which is a temple located 60 km east of the main group of temples at Angkor Wat and built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Its primary material is sandstone and it is surrounded by moats. The basic layout is three enclosing galleries around a central sanctuary. There is extensive carving of scenes from Hindu mythology, including the Churning of the Sea of Milk and Vishnu being borne by the bird god Garuda. Causeways have long balustrades formed by bodies of the seven-headed Naga serpent. Smaller in size than Angkor Wat, the king’s main monument, Boeng Mealea nonetheless ranks among the Khmer empire’s larger temples. Return to hotel and free at leisure

Day 5: Siem Reap – Prek Toal & Birding (B,L)

Prek Toal is located on the northwest corner of the great Tonle Sap Lake – often referred to by many specialists as a natural wonder of the world as it expands nearly five times its normal size during the wet season. This morning you will board a private boat and cross the entire width of the lake. Transfer first to Chhong Kneas floating village and tour the village before setting off to admire the “floating mangrove forests”. Upon arrival at the bird sanctuary, witness large flocks of different birds as far as the eye can see. Prek Toal is Southeast Asia’s single most important breeding ground for globally threatened large water birds. Upon arrival you will join local biodiversity experts and enjoy a guided trip around the village and bird sanctuary. A picnic lunch is served at a local house on the lake. There is a possibility to visit the local floating school or community centre and take a look into the daily lives of Prek Toal’s children. If you have any study items to donate, please feel free to bring these on your trip and hand them over to the school or centre. Return to Siem Reap late afternoon. (Suggested visit period is between September and early February to see the most bird life but sill interesting year round).

Day6: Siem Reap – Silk Farm & Cooking Class (B,L)

After breakfast we will visit to The Angkor Silk Farm in Siem Reap is an extensive and well documented foundation that gives excellent insight into how silk is traditionally made in Cambodia. The farm supports vulnerable women to make a living for their families. Visit the Silk Farm and follow each step of the silk process, from growing the mulberry trees to providing the essential ingredients to grow and feed silkworms. There are craftswomen at work allowing you to observe how silk is processed traditionally. They remove the silk thread from the cocoons and work the thread prior to weaving. An on-site shop allows you to bring home some memorable souvenirs or gifts for your loved ones back home and continue to the local farm, vegetable garden and then we enjoy our cooking class at Sojourn Villa. Experience a hand on Cambodian Cooking Class in our bamboo pavilion.  Learn to make three Cambodian dishes with one of our head chefs and enjoy your creation following the class. Classes include a short visit to a local family to learn about food customs and beliefs within the village. Free in the afternoon for relaxation in the pool or walking around the old market

Day7: Siem Reap – Departure (B)

Breakfast at hotel and free until transfer to airport for departure.
